Goreticulture
A downloadable jam game for Windows and Linux
Ready to get messy?
In Goreticulture, you’re tasked with cleaning up the bloody messes someone else left behind. But your trusty mop and bucket aren’t alone! Nurture a visceral garden of helpful plants, like the cleaning-fruit bearing Tri-Ivy or the blood detecting Compass Rose, to clean up this mess under budget.
✨ NEW Post-Jam Update! ✨
- A new Tutorial! It's short and has zero words, hope it helps!
- The Arena map has a fresh coat of paint!
- We've tweaked and polished, squashed some bugs. Let us know what you think!

Help!
We intended for the game to be learnable through exploration on the menu + sandbox, but in case that didn’t work here’s some common questions.
- How do I plant seeds? Throw some seeds on the appropriate surface, either blood or chunks. You can inspect the seed packet to see which seed needs which material. Sometimes they die!
- How do I grow plants? Plants grow very slowly on their own. To speed up the process, you can water them with bloody mop water. You can get a feel for this in the sandbox!
- What do the plants do?
- Antleroot - the fastest growing plant, plant it on chunks. It blooms and gives more Antleroot seeds, mostly used to drain chunks.
- Pitcher - Plant on splatter, this plant holds enough water to refill your bucket twice.
- Tri-Ivy - Also growing on splatter, it produces a handful of spongy fruit. The fruit bounce when thrown and clean surfaces they hit.
- Compass Rose - The slowest growing plant, the rose is planted on chunks. Its bloom points toward the nearest blood splatter. It also fades from white to red as it gets closer.
- How do I check my progress? You can interact with the budget screen near the vending machine with your hands.
If you would like a video example, I’ve uploaded gameplay of the first level to YouTube, you can find it at the top of this page!
The Team
This game was an entry to the Indie Game Clinic Collab Jam 25 and required a team to submit. Gamma and Toad met last year in the Playdate handheld console community and both published software for the device, as well as collaborating on a small app. Gamma spent the first part of the month prototyping and ideating (with the help of a very patient partner), and when Toad was freed up from other responsibilities he jumped in and helped with design and handled all the art.
